LENS VISOR: Prevent Lens Flare
for Better Image Color, Contrast and Clarity
Early and late in the day are great times for outdoor lighting. They are also times when you have a greater chance of getting flare in your lens.
EVEN A LITTLE FLARE HURTS
Even a little lens flare can hurt the color, contrast and clarity of your photography. The Lens Visor blocks the sunlight from hitting the lens to prevent lens flare. The Lens Visor is a great piece of equipment to have in your camera bag. It does need a lens that can use a lens hood.
BARE LENS vs. HAND vs. HOOD vs. LENS VISOR
A bare lens will flare easily even with the sun high in the sky. Your hand is generally not large enough to block flare and you can get your fingers in the picture. A lens hood can block some flare but the tulip style lens hood used for standard wide to long zoom lenses doesn't do that well either. The lens visor blocks much more flare than any of these.
CHANGE LENS VISOR HEIGHTS
You can change the angle of the lens visor to a lower angle for telephoto lenses or a higher angle for wide angle lenses.
There used to be Haze filters. Lens flare can cause a hazy look without any haze.
Light hitting your lens causes flare which makes your image less sharp. Blocking the light from the lens with the Lens Visor helps you get sharper images.
BUYING THE BEST LENS
A lot of people research which lens to buy and reviews compare the color, contrast and clarity of different lenses. Lens flare will reduce the depth of the color, amount of contrast and clarity in your photographs. Get the most out of your lens by using the Lens Visor.
THE GOLDEN HOUR
The Golden Hour is when the sun is lower and there is greater chance of flare. The Lens Visor is the perfect piece of equipment for taking photographs during the Golden Hour.
CONTROL THE AMOUNT OF FLARE
You may want flare in a photo but not as much as you are getting. The Lens Visor lets you control the amount of flare from a lot to a little flare.
LIGHT & TAKES LITTLE SPACE
The Lens visor is thin and takes very little space in your camera bag. If you are a nature photographer it weighs less than an ounce which makes it a very light piece of gear. You can also use the Lens Visor as a barrier between pieces of equipment in your camera bag.
PATENTED SOFT LIGHT REFLECTOR TO LENS VISOR
I had an outdoor photo shoot that was from early morning until evening in one location and needed a way of preventing flare in my lens during the shoot. While trying different ideas I looked over at my Soft Light Reflector and noticed that it had a black back and was flexible.
I flipped the Soft Light Reflector over, placed it on the lens hood and the Lens Visor was born. I tried using a Velcro strap with shims to change the height of it which was cumbersome and the shims shifted and fell out. I then experimented and came up with a better way that allows the height and tilt of the Lens Visor to be adjusted for different lenses and positioning the Lens Visor 360 degrees around the lens.
